The best way to get into shape for rock climbing is to climb. Theres nothing else you can do to truly work the muscles needed in order to climb Sure you can go to a gym and lift weights n that may help but one thing it definitely won’t help with is your mental strength.

There are quite a few ways to train without actually climbing if you can’t go to a local gym or crag. Except for the actual climbing time, everything else can be trained at home. You can do Calf training; because without strong calves, you won’t be a good rock climber. One of the best ways to build strength and endurance in your calf muscles is to do high rep Calf Raises. Also you want strong arms and a strong back. For this there is no exercise more important or effective than pull-ups. Use a door pullup bar or use the overhand created by the door frame (some doors have a pretty big frame to hold onto) and do sets of pullups all through the day. There is no need to go to muscular failure. Instead, do smaller sets regularly, so your strength levels increase and your endurance peaks. You could also build or buy yourself a hangboard. Check out the source below for more details, it has tons of good ideas for you.

Climbing is so much more than simply muscle strength and endurance. I see guys who are athletes come in to the rock gym all the time that struggle on 5.7 because they dont know technique, and the ONLY way to improve technique is to climb. Since you are 14, it is even more important that you are climbing to learn how to make the different moves because you will continue to grow and your body dynamics will change over time. Your best bet, since a climbing gym is so far away, is to invest in a small bouldering wall in your garage or basement. It will take a few bucks to build and put holds on it but it is better than simply “working out”.

Climbing is the only thing will help you get stronger. climb easy warm up routes or boulder problems and try hard problems or routes to help you improve. eating healthy is a huge key allot of people leave out of their climbing life style. climb hard and eat right.
