Question by DMR: What strength training exercises will help in wall/rock climbing?
Best answer:
Answer by isu_trickster
The best way to get stronger at climbing is by climbing… Climbing is a full body exercise. Isolating specific muscle groups will not help you much. The best things you can do is improve your cardio (swimming, running, biking, etc), improve your technique (climb smarter, not harder), and climb more. Keep after it and you will soon see gains, but it does take some dedication and the ability to ask questions. Watch other people climb, note where they are successful and where they are not. Implement these ideas as you climb. You will learn how to move your body more effectively and the strength will come, but doing pull-ups and sit-ups wont have that much of an impact on your climbing ability.

abs push ups pull ups dips. not running or cycling cause that isn’t helpful to climbing.
but the quickest way to improve is learning good foot work and breathing and focus
it depends on your level. if you’re still a beginner, just climb and learn techniques from great climbers. look and your feet more, footwork is the best thing you can train to improve.
there are many devices to help. like to get better finger strength you can use a fingerboard.
if you can’t do a pull-up, start training to become able to do one (search that on youtube)
and when you become an intermediate climber (V6 boulder or 5.12a (F7a+) routes and above you can use a campus board. to gain explosive power, and more finger strength.
bouldering is a great way to become better in climbing.
